My brother, Fran, first got me interested in comics when we were kids. I have always loved to read, so I read everything he did: Elektra, X-Men, New Mutants, Daredevil, Power Pack, Rom: Spaceknight, Alpha Flight, Fantastic Four, Spiderman... Like many other kids, I read Richie Rich, Hot Stuff and Archie as well. When I left home, I stopped reading them. Years later, my husband renewed my interest in comics. I've even started going to comic book conventions. I now regularly read a diverse mix of comic books.
Try this great miniseries by J. Torres, Siren.
My absolute favorite comic book series is
Strangers in Paradise by Terry Moore.
My favorite comic book story has to be Death: The High Cost of Living.
I can't leave out my beloved Tick. I started out watching the animated series and finally picked up The Tick Omnibus.
Sandman by Neil Gaiman is a classic. There are no new issues, but you can catch the 75 issue series through the collections or in reprint.
Also, for a good read, Animal Man, Issues 1-26 done by Morrison, Truog and Hazlewood, is excellent. I HIGHLY recommend these if you can find them.
